Wissen|schaf(f)t Gesundheit: What is plastic surgery? - Function, form and
"Wissen|schaf(f)t Gesundheit" is a series of lectures organized by the Medical University of Innsbruck. Doctors and researchers present the current state of research to an interested public in an understandable way.
Plastic surgery involves far more than "just" cosmetic surgery. It includes the restoration of function, form and aesthetics from head to toe, from young to old and consists of four pillars: reconstructive, hand, burn and aesthetic surgery. The focus is on reconstruction with autologous tissue, whether after burns, trauma, tumors or malformations.
In her lecture, Barbara Del-Frari, senior physician at the University Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, will shed light on the possibilities of restoring form and function after accidents, burns or surgical removal of malignant tumors, talk about aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, show treatments for various changes and injuries to the hands and nerve constrictions (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrom), provide insights into congenital malformations and surgical indications and explain various surgical correction options.
Free admission, no registration required, admission from 18:00 in the main lecture hall (Audimax). The lecture can also be followed as a livestream.
