Symposium "Building Sites of Remembrance"

The Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck and the Innsbruck City Archive/Municipal Museum want to take a critical look at what has happened in Tyrol in recent years in terms of the culture of remembrance at the end of the exhibition "Disposing of Hitler. From the cellar to the archive", the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck and the City Archives/City Museum of Innsbruck want to take another critical look at what has been done in Tyrol in recent years with regard to the culture of remembrance, and that is not so little. The symposium will report on completed research such as that which has been co-financed in recent years by the state's remembrance culture funding programme or as part of the City of Innsbruck's gedenk_potenziale. Questions will also be asked about how remembrance work has an impact on institutions, for example in the Tyrolean Landhaus, whose Gauhaus past is better known today than it was a few years ago; but also what the memorial to the murders of the sick in the Hall psychiatric sanatorium has achieved or what the research project of the memorial storage facility on the Nazi era in the Ötztal is up to.
