Theatre play: All my spirits
A theater production for people aged 10 and over.
Jette has turned 10 years old. That's a 1 with a 0 behind it. Jette is now in double digits. Emil, her little brother, only turned one. He died a year ago, four days after Jette's ninth birthday. He would have liked to be in double figures.
In flashbacks, Jette tells of wild adventures with Emil on the planet Spacko-Platto X5.9, of family vacations together and how she played funeral games with her brother. She remembers the last words she said to Emil and wonders whether blindworms get the sniffles, why the sun is so hot and what that actually means: 'dying'. What happens to us when we are 'dead'? And anyway, do fish actually sleep?
"Do fish sleep? - A play about the small, big and final questions of life" is a sensitive, humorous and at the same time profound play that deals with the subject of death with great sensitivity. It offers space for reflection, empathy and, above all, shows that memories and love never fade.
Jens Raschke, the author, received the Mühlheim Children's Theater Prize for the play in 2012. Performance rights Theaterstückverlag im Drei Masken Verlag Munich
