"Schellenschlagen & Kiagras mahn" - traditional carnival parade in Lans

Fat Thursday in Lans - the village is upside down for a day!

On Fat Thursday the "Schellenschlager", men with cow bells on their costumes dance and jump around in the village - making a big noise - to symbolically drive out the winter. Be careful: from very early in the morning, men dressed up as farmers walk through the village, to "mow grass" for the cows ("Kiagras mahn"). Watch out if you're driving, or else you will suddenly find your car filled with hay!
