Cycling & environmental festival with Inn riverbank cleaning

BIKE & ENVIRONMENT FESTIVAL FOR EVERYONE WITH INNUFER CLEANING

Innsbruck starts spring full of energy! In a joint cooperation between Innsbruck Marketing, Innsbrucker Kommunalbetriebe AG (IKB), the provincial police directorate, the walking and cycling coordination of the city of Innsbruck as well as the Climate Alliance Tyrol and ORF Tyrol, a big cycling and environmental festival will be held on the market square on March 29, 2025. Following the cleaning of the banks of the Inn , from 10 a.m. there will be an invitation to come together, discover and enjoy. The police will be presenting the "SICHER am (E-)Bike" initiative, while fun play stations await younger visitors. An entertaining music program and culinary delights round off the festival.

The banks of the Inn are tidied up for the start of spring

IKB is once again organizing the annual Inn riverbank clean-up this year. On this day, over 20 clubs and institutions make it their mission to clear the banks of the Inn in designated areas from O-Dorf to Kranebitten of litter and everything that does not belong in nature.

For insurance reasons, participation in the collection campaign is only possible for clubs and pre-registered groups. If you are interested, you can register here:abfallberatung@ikb.at

Focus on the bike - sustainable mobility and safety

Compared to last year, this year's festival will feature a number of valuable program items and co-creators. With the "SICHER am (E-)Bike" initiative, the police want to reduce the number of accidents and, in particular, fatal accidents. There are a few important things to bear in mind, especially when riding off-road on an e-bike. In addition to the bicycle police officers, there will also be instructors on site to advise anyone interested on correct route planning, the technical intricacies of e-bikes and correct riding behavior on hills and in the city. The motto is: "Healthy up the mountain and healthy back down".

The festival also marks the start of this year's "Tirol cycles" season, in which the population is called upon to cover their everyday routes by bike wherever possible. In order to be perfectly prepared for this, a free bicycle workshop will be offered at the cycling and environmental festival, where bicycles will be checked for roadworthiness by experts and made fit for the new season. A large bicycle parade through the city will also start at 3 p.m. on the market square.

Environmental protection meets entertainment

In addition to safe and sustainable mobility, environmental protection remains a central theme of the festival. Interactive play and craft stations invite young visitors to discover the topic of "upcycling and recycling" in a fun way. Another special feature for young and old: IKB will be presenting its fully electric refuse collection and washing vehicle. You can try out the driver's cab and operate the buttons and levers yourself, giving you an insight into modern waste disposal. The ORF Tirol and interactive shows by "MullMulla" and "JETS" provide the best musical entertainment. Food and drink will also be provided.
