Jazz at the HDM: Wolfgang Mitterer - 437 Hertz (UA)

The Austrian Wolfgang Mitterer is one of the most successful representatives of live electronics and an innovative and joyful transgressor of musical boundaries, who proves himself as a polystylist in his multifaceted works and projects between operas of a new kind, creative stage music, unusual orchestral pieces, experiments with a wide variety of ensembles, compositions for mass choirs and brass bands as well as applied sound and video art. He doesn't shy away from a tangible quote or his own melodic ideas and techniques of contemporary music between avant-garde and pop. When asked whether he is not putting himself between two stools, he replies glibly: "No, I'm sitting in my own chair." This time, he will be taking an in-depth look at the music of the great Johann Sebastian. One year before the premiere, this is of course still a "work in progress", for which the composer still has alternative titles in mind: "mit bach", "open room", "variations 2025", "flying surround" ... an exciting evening is guaranteed!
