HDM in Concert: Blasmusik meets Bach

In 2025, the Tyrolean Wind Music Association with its almost 20,000 musicians in 302 member bands will celebrate its 100th anniversary - a reason to present wind music in all its facets: Traditional and modern brass music, brass music in motion and, as in this concert, as an encounter with the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. This music, which in itself can usually be scored flexibly, can be experienced not only within the framework of traditional instrumentation, but also in newly interpreted versions for symphonic wind orchestra. However, the transformation of Bach's compositions requires a conscious decision regarding the orchestration. The aim is to use the characteristic timbres of the individual wind instruments while at the same time preserving the intention and structure of the original works. J.S. Bach and the wind orchestra - a harmonious combination that shows that this composer's music is timeless and can unfold its fascination in a wide variety of instrumentations and interpretations.
