Bolshoi Don Cossacks

Dear audience, Griaß enk! After many years, the Bolshoi Don Cossacks are coming to Tyrol again this year! We are very much looking forward to seeing them again, or to getting to know them again! The term Cossack means free man. In the 16th century, these gifted horsemen settled along the rivers of the steppe in what is now Ukraine and Russia, expressing their passion in song. After the October Revolution in 1917, many Cossacks emigrated to the West. More than 45 years ago, the choirmaster Prof Petja Houdjakov succeeded not only in forming the members of the original choir, which can look back on a tradition of more than 100 years, but also in forming a choir of professional opera soloists. They have succeeded in continuing the tradition of low basses (basso profundo) and high falsetto voices and uniting them to create a mystical sound. 12.06.2025 Innsbruck Auferstehungskirche 19:00h Further details at: www.bdk.at, lera@bdk.atDear audience, Griaß enk!
