City of Birmingham Symphony
Hailed by The Times as a “remarkable cellist”, Kian Soltani's playing is characterized by great depth of expression and technical mastery, praised by the British magazine “Gramophone” as “sheer perfection”. Added to this is the charismatic stage presence with which the musician of Persian descent, born in 1992, establishes a very direct connection with his audience.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is one of the world's leading orchestras that regularly invite Soltani to perform as a soloist. Under the direction of Kazuki Yamada since 2023, the orchestra will shine with us with a French program: Hector Berlioz' characteristic overture “Le Carnaval Romain” and Maurice Ravel's Orchestral Suites No. 1 & 2 from his choreographic symphony “Daphnis et Chloe”. In between, Soltani will make his appearance in Camille Saint-Saëns' magnificent 1st Cello Concerto, to which he will add another gem with Gabriel Fauré's Elégie.
