Word & music: Big and small people

Not only in Shakespeare and Schiller, but also in Rückert and Brecht, Fallada or Strauss, it is a theme everywhere in literature: the great unapproachable and the unheard - the little people. In the 1970s, Botho Strauss wrote Groß und Klein, a play about the loneliness and brutalization of society. Delia Mayer, singer and former Swiss Tatort detective, gives us an insight into the depths and heights of the big-small world through her singing and storytelling. She is accompanied by Fabian Ziegler (marimba, percussion), Mirella Weingarten (stage, drawings) and Wiebke Pöpel (video). "Many of the soft notes that she already liked to pluck and strike before are now even more delicate and fragile, but under high tension... In between, Delia Mayer sings and recites songs by Copland and Eisler, Purcell and Schumann. She is the voice in poor Woyzeck's head, she crouches and gymnasts around in the small stage frame (...) a window to the world, to the inner world, a bridge to the texts too.
