Telfer Schleicherlaufen 2025 – the big carnival celebration in Telfs

The famous "Schleicherlaufen" parade has been held in Telfs every five years since 1890. This major event attracts 15,000 visitors to the market town to watch as around 500 masked men parade in groups through the streets. The men are dressed up as "Schleicher", "Wilden" or Lantern Carriers. A multitude of decorated carnival floats follow and the carnival celebrations are announced at various stops. The custom we know today was granted UNESCO intangible cultural heritage status in 2010.
The "Schleicherlaufen" parade starts after the last ceremonial shots are fired at 11 am – only in German / Tyrolean dialect.
