Luminous Landscapes

We are delighted to present Matthias Guido Braudisch from Vorarlberg, an artist from the field of (experimental) photography. Braudisch graduated from FotoK, School for Artistic Photography in Vienna in 2010 and completed his subsequent studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Prof. Daniel Richter) in 2019.
His artistic work demonstrates an extraordinary experimental approach to the medium of photography. Braudisch works with complex materials on high-quality papers, often executed as unique prints between photography and painting. The combination of analog and digital techniques, paired with a profound knowledge of old noble printing processes such as oil printing or calotypie (salt printing) make up the special character of the works. The artist calls his latest series of works Luminous Landscapes, in which wild rock formations, dwindling glaciers, angular mountain ranges and surreal volcanic landscapes are transferred into almost abstract forms and at the same time succeed in capturing the magic and transience of untouched nature. Matthias Braudisch was able to demonstrate these skills in 2020 as part of a media scholarship from Nationalparks Austria, in which he took an intensive photographic and artistic look at the dwindling glaciers of the Hohe Tauern.
