STATE THEATRE Innsbruck: ALL DAY STORIES by Elizabeh T. Spira
In a production by Susi Weber and set by Esther Frommann, the Staatstheter honors Elisabeth T. Spira and gives free rein to this kaleidoscope of humanity on stage with Oliver Burkia, Carmen Gratl, Ute Heidorn and Freddy Redavid.
"There are tales of strife and longing, of running along and running away, of the promises of the market, of the Geierwally, gas chambers and of bus stops as unfulfilled promises; there is ranting about inflation and about "foreigners", women, "those up there", herd brothers and other "primitive logicians"; the laws of nature are invoked, calendar sayings are invoked - and "the dritte nuclear war" droht too.
The polyphonic, multi-dialectal and abysmally dialectical collage of monologues is wonderfully paced. And superbly acted. A scowl often takes the place of a big grudge. Sometimes the gestures are bigger than the thoughts. Every now and then, there is an acrobatic search for the air necessary for any (un)decent brandrede. It is oppressive. And spooky. And almost painfully funny.
You can't laugh too heartily at these "everyday stories" - but you have to anyway. The premiere performance was rewarded with standing ovations." ( Joachim Leitner, Tiroler Tageszeitung )
