Mit Pauken und Trompeten - Concert, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik

Once, the golden sound of trumpets enriched the lives of both the courtly society and the people. The Tyrolean Archdukes also greatly valued the powerful trumpet consorts, which consisted of up to 30 musicians. They played at representative events, celebrations, and public festivals.
The tradition of trumpet processions persisted in some regions, including Austria and southern Germany, until the end of the 18th century, and in some places even into the 19th century. Today, there are still trumpet consorts in Tyrol that play on natural trumpets from that era. They are a fixed part of the program at the Innsbrucker Festwochen and are now an inseparable feature. From the Golden Roof, their festive sounds echo through the historic old town of the Alpine city.
