„Johannespassion“ Johann Sebastian Bach

‘Who is Jesus of Nazareth?’
This question divides the people. While for some he is a king, the Messiah, others doubt his divine origin and accuse him, agitate and demand his death.
Dramatic choruses, poignant arias and devotional chorales - the enormous expressive power of Bach's Passion setting has touched listeners for over 300 years. The choir plays a central role in the vivid composition and contributes significantly to the high intensity and dynamics of the work through the contrast between stirring folk scenes and intimate contemplation.
The vocal soloists are Florian Cramer (tenor and Evangelist), Johannes Maria Wimmer (bass - Jesus' words), Vera Schoenenberg (soprano), Pascal Ladner (alto) and Philipp Schöllhorn (bass - arias).
The Paluselli Consort (concertmaster: Ulrike Cramer) under the direction of Jannik Trescher will perform together with the Stams Collegiate Music Choir and the soloists.
