Listen up, Innsbruck as folk music conquers the city

Innsbruck listen up! When the Lower Austrian Weinhauermarsch, the Zillertaler Tanzl and the Marsch der Steirer can be heard in Innsbruck, folk music once again conquers the city.... Once again this year, young folk musicians and singers from all over the Alps will envelop Innsbruck in a cloud of folk music as part of the ‘Alpine Folk Music Competition/Herma Haselsteiner Prize’. More than 100 folk music ensembles and singing groups will play and sing on Saturday from 11 a.m. under the motto ‘Aufg'horcht in Innsbruck!’ at various locations and squares in Innsbruck's city centre, creating a unique atmosphere between alpine-urban flair and modern architecture. In recent years, the beautiful courtyards in the historic city centre have established themselves as special locations. This is where the soft, delicate tones of stringed instruments and the voices of the numerous singing groups can be heard. On Sunday, the traditional ‘Aufg'horcht- Volksmusikfrühschoppen’ (folk music morning pint) continues from 11 am in selected Innsbruck inns and surrounding mountain pastures. The special interplay between musicians, singers and visitors singing and dancing together, without any big stages or amplifiers, makes Innsbruck ‘listen up’ every year. Free admission!
