druNumerous schools, markets and municipal offices, large public administrative and cultural buildings, but also a large number of projects for private clients - they are all part of the impressive and yet almost unknown oeuvre in Europe that Ehrentraut Katstaller-Schott (1924 - 2024) and Karl Katstaller (1921 - 1989) realized in all parts of El Salvador. The two architects, who met in Vienna in Lois Welzenbacher's master class, responded to a call from the government of El Salvador in 1952 and became important protagonists of architectural modernism in the Central American country in the years that followed.
The exhibition at aut comprehensively documents the life and work of the architect couple for the first time, tracing their path from European modernism to Central American "modernismo tropicalizado" and highlighting the work of Ehrentraut Katstaller-Schott as a pioneer of female architecture in El Salvador.
